Copyright law offers clear rights to instructors to “publicly display” or “publicly perform” copyrighted works in class. Section 110 of the U.S. Copyright Act authorizes uses both for in-person and remote teaching. In addition, fair use (Section 107) may cover additional uses. Finally, the Libraries’ Course Reserves unit supports instructors sharing course materials, and may be able to purchase or license materials for use.
